Christmas in France

Thinking about visiting France around Christmas time? There is a lot you can do to enjoy the season to the fullest while on vacation! When you listen to these episodes you will learn about Christmas Traditions in France, our best Christmas Markets, and must-visit places that will let you enjoy the best of the season.

Must-See in Paris

Galleries Lafayette and Printemps Department Stores

Which Galleries Lafayette? The one on Boulevard Haussmann near the Opera Garnier.

Which Christmas Market?

There are many, including some that only pop up for a week-end or two. The most official and current list is here.

But everyone wants to see the one on the Champs Elysées. It was cancelled in 2017 (political shenanigans) and it is rumored to be coming back 2018 at the Jardin des Tuileries on the other side of the Place de la Concorde.

Will it really come back? It’s not sure at this time. The organizer, Marcel Campion, has been in the news a lot as he likes to antagonize politicians. Time will tell. Check back here for the official word as the day approaches.

French Christmas Traditions

French Christmas traditions are similar to what you’ll find in other countries, but differ in one major way: the emphasis is on the food and drink!

At Join Us in France we love Christmas and we've produced several episodes that explain Christmas traditions in France: Christmas in Paris, Christmas Markets in France, Family Christmas in France. There are many similarities between Christmas in North America and in France, but there are also important differences that we outline on the show. #Christmas #Holidays #France #Paris #Alsace #JoinUsInFranceTravelPodcast #Travel #Podcast
