Hotel Recommendation in Paris: Kim stayed at the Hôtel West-End Rue Clement Marot in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. It is very close to Avenue Montaigne and the Champs Elysee and importantly, close to 2 metro stations.  The staff were lovely and upgraded me to a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower as I was staying 8 nights.

Restaurant Recommendation in Nancy: Kim visited the local market and went to the Brasserie L'Excelsior, a gorgeous Art Nouveau built in 1911.

Restaurant Recommendation in Rueil-Malmaison: The restaurant where Kim had the lunch is called Le Beauharnais in the place de l'Eglise in Rueil-Malmaison. This day excursion is so close to Paris that it actually only takes half a day, you can sleep in or get back early if you wish!

  1. Love Malmaison. Saw it on the 100 anniv. year of Josephine’s death 2014. Beautiful interiors. Nice and compact.
Vaux-le-Vicomte is a perfect size too. Glad these aren’t
    gigantic like Versailles.

I guess I was lucky to take many photos inside Monet’s house at Giverny on two separate visits . Last time was Summer of 2015.
I just read that you can’t. Whew.

  2. I also loved chateau Malmaison. My husband is a Napoleon buff so we went there. I am surprised more guide books don’t recommend it.
Another nice day trip is Fontainebleu. Great for history buffs.
My favorite day trip from Paris, though, was Chartres. The cathedral is amazing and the town is lovely. Easy train from Paris.

  3. One reason Malmaison is never included could be (just taking a guess here!) that they’re not good about bringing tour guide authors to visit Malmaison all expenses paid.

Unlike Join Us in France, very few people who promote travel destinations do it for nothing in return. Maybe Join Us in France is the unicorn of travel 😉

  4. This was a very good episode. I’m interested in learning more about Brittany. The insights provided about places I’m interested in going (Dinan, St Malo in particular) and the weather were helpful.

    Thanks,

    Matt
