Looking for a beautiful off the beaten track area in France? Here is one, the Verdon Gorge! When you go, you will mostly hang out with French people because it is not on most visitors' radar at this time. But, as explained by my guests on today's episode, it's a great place to go for a more active experience in France with hikes, canoeing, swimming, etc.
Katie and Nathan also visited the Alsace and Alps area, but in this episode they explain why they loved the Verdon Gorge, Provence and Carcassonne best. They loved the Mediterranean, the friendly people they ran into, the food, the wine, they report that the whole experience was fantastic.
At Join Us in France we like to talk to real visitors from all walks of life. Katie and Nathan are from Durham, North Carolina. She's 26 and a teacher and he's 29 and a mechanical engineer.
This episode is the third part of a 3-part series with Katie and Nathan:
- Colmar and Alsace, Episode 120
- Chamonix, Annecy, and the Alps, Episode 121
- The Verdon Gorge, Provence and Carcassonne, Episode 122

Katie and Nathan's Advice for Young Couples Coming to France
Definitely check out AirB&B for accommodations. For them sharing the home with the hosts was ideal because they could show them around and tell them about the best of the area.
Katie used the internet and Pinterest to research the places they wanted to visit, which gave them a broad view of all the possibilities and not just the ones suggested in a guide book.
