  1. Bonjoir, I thoroughly enjoy the weekly history lesson. The region or location is so much more than what one sees today.
Your build up (your delivery) that makes me want to visit a place I had never considered in France.
    Thank you.

  2. Hello,
I really enjoy your podcasts. First, a question. My wife and I will be in Paris next May. One of the days is May 1, a national holiday. On that day we plan to take either a train or plane to Bordeaux, with luggage. On May 1, is one better than another? Also should there be any problem getting a taxi that day?
As a possible topic, as we will be in Paris for about a week, might you do one podcast on the flea markets , on the weekend? Are there companies that if you buy bigger items, that they will sell you container space for delivery to the US?
    Thanks.
    Bruce

  3. Hello Bruce,

On May 1st France pretty much shuts down. Many cities (such as Toulouse) offer no buses, metros or trams. Paris has reduced service on public transportation. You should have no trouble finding a taxi, but they charge more. Trains run, but on Sunday/Holiday schedule. Airports don’t close but probably run on a reduced schedule. Overall it’s not a good day to travel if you can avoid it.

I have no experience with partial container shipping, so I can’t speak to that.

Thanks for the show suggestion, that sounds interesting!

    Enjoy the show!

  4. Bonjour Annie et Elyse. Bravo encore une fois! We have a trip planned for next September and it’s hard to wait. We are starting with a French home study in Nice and are planning to go north through Aix. Thanks for all the great ideas. What do you think of visiting La Corse from Nice first? And a podcast to go along with it sometime in the next year? Merci infiniement.

  5. Thanks for this wonderful podcast. I’ve recently home to Australia from a year living in Aix and my heart is longing for this beautiful city again. You’ve helped relive my fondest memories and solidify my love for Aix. Thanks.

  6. Right on the west end of Cours Mirabeau is a shopping center and an underground parking garage. The garage has a cool feature. There are sensors on every parking place which sense if it is filled or not. (If the car is parked in backward it might sense the place is empty) At the end of each row there is an overhead sign telling you how many spots are available.

We had a great time eating lunch in a sidewalk cafe and watching people on market day (Tuesday). That, for me, is one of the best things to do while being in France.

  7. Bonjour

I just recently found your podcast, its great. I have been to France 4 times. Last September 2015 I visited Aix – on my own. (woman, 57) I found it to be an easy small city to navigate. I have a couple of additions to your podcast. I took a bus from MRS to Aix. Easy and cheap. You can eat a burger in Aix!!… I ate Tartare de bouef at Marie Georgette’s which was delicious . I also did a market walking tour which was fun and informative. thank you for podcasting!

    1. Hello Kate and welcome to Join Us in France! Good to know there are burgers in Aix 😉 There are burger places popping up all over France, it’s now a trend. Have fun in France!
